1950s Wedding Reportage: Annalisa and Marcello’s Rockabilly Wedding

Wedding in Sant’Alfio, Catania

A country wedding, in 50s style. This was enough to make my hands itch with the desire to be with Annalisa and Marcello to tell the story of their wedding. They decided that their preparations would take place in the same house, although they still managed not to see each other’s outfits before their moving encounter. Annalisa arrived in a beautiful Volkswagen minibus, Marcello on his Harley. And at Agriturismo Case Perrotta, accompanied by the notes of DannyD and the Hot Billies, everything was magical.

The charm of vintage, combined with a rustic Sicilian setting, created the perfect aesthetic blend for a dynamic and extraordinary photographic reportage.

Shared preparations: an intimate and modern choice One of the most touching aspects of this wedding was the choice of preparations. Annalisa and Marcello decided to get ready in the same house. Despite sharing the space, they managed to keep the magic of the anticipation intact, avoiding revealing their outfits before the right moment.

Capturing this emotional tension within the home was exciting. As a photographer, documenting the small gestures — the sound of footsteps in the hallway, the laughter of friends, the growing emotion without yet being able to look into each other’s eyes — allows for the creation of a sincere and profound narrative, far from the usual staged poses.

Engines and Rock ‘n’ Roll: the arrival at Case Perrotta The couple’s entrance confirmed the Rockabilly spirit of the day. Annalisa arrived aboard an iconic and colorful Volkswagen bus, a timeless symbol of freedom, while Marcello made the air shake with the roar of his Harley-Davidson.

These elements are not just accessories, but extensions of the couple’s personality. Photographing the contrast between the white of the wedding dress and the chrome of the motorcycle, or the matte texture of the vintage van against the green of the Sicilian vegetation, offers a chromatic variety that enormously enriches a professional’s portfolio.

The party continued at Agriturismo Case Perrotta in Sant’Alfio. Here, among ancient trees and the fresh air coming down from Mount Etna, the atmosphere became electric thanks to the overwhelming notes of DannyD and the hot billies. The live music transformed the reception into a true 1950s party, where every shot captured movement, joy, and pure fun.

Wedding Photographer in Sicily: capturing uniqueness Working in areas like Catania, Taormina, and Giarre allows me to engage with very diverse scenarios, but it is the people who make the difference. Annalisa and Marcello’s wedding reminded me why I love this job: the opportunity to tell authentic stories, where personal style becomes the absolute protagonist.

A country wedding of this type requires a particular sensitivity in post-production, where I sought to maintain warm tones and strong contrasts, typical of mid-century analog photography, to honor the theme chosen by the couple.
